International Rotation Requirements

  1. International Rotation Elective. Residents are strongly encouraged to complete a one-two month international rotation after intern year of residency program. All international electives must be approved by the Internal Medicine or Medicine-Pediatrics Residency Program Director and the Global Health Pathway Program Director.
  2. Weekly Journal. Required. All residents are required to keep a weekly record of their experiences.
  3. Academic Project/Scholarly Activity. Required. All residents who complete an international elective are expected to complete a scholarly project or activity.
  4. Teaching Presentation. Required. All residents are asked to present their international experiences or address a global health topic at a Global Health Pathway Tropical and Travel Medicine Seminar, Department for Medicine Grand Rounds or at a Morning Report meeting, or at a similar event.
  5. Electronic Portfolio. Required. All residents must maintain a portfolio of their progress. (The Global Health Pathway is in the process of developing a Moodle web site for this purpose.)
  6. Stipend. The Global Health Pathway provides a one-time international rotation stipend after all program requirements have been completed.
